Cartridge Filter Tube

The Cartridge Filter Tube is a high-efficiency deep filtration medium designed for molten aluminum purification. Installed inside a cartridge filter box, it removes non-metallic inclusions, oxide films, and fine suspended particles from molten aluminum before casting.

Unlike surface filtration systems, cartridge filter tubes provide depth filtration, allowing molten metal to pass through a porous ceramic structure while capturing impurities throughout the filter body. This filtration mechanism helps achieve higher melt cleanliness and improved casting quality.

Manufactured from high-quality ceramic materials, cartridge filter tubes offer excellent thermal shock resistance, stable filtration performance, and long service life under demanding casting conditions.

Application

Aluminum Billet Casting

Cartridge filter tubes help remove fine inclusions from molten aluminum before casting, contributing to improved billet quality and downstream extrusion performance.

Aluminum Slab Production

For rolling and sheet applications, cleaner molten metal helps reduce surface defects and improve final product quality.

Aluminum Rod Casting

High-purity molten aluminum is essential for electrical conductivity and wire drawing performance. Cartridge filtration supports stable rod production by removing fine contaminants.

Recycled Aluminum Processing

Recycled aluminum often contains higher levels of inclusions and impurities. Cartridge filter tubes provide deep filtration to improve metal cleanliness before casting.

High-quality Aluminum Alloy Production

Suitable for applications requiring strict melt cleanliness standards, including automotive, aerospace, and industrial aluminum alloy manufacturing.

Application Method

Preparation Before Installation

Before installation, thoroughly clean the interior of the cartridge filter box to remove residual materials and contaminants.

Prepare and inspect all required installation accessories, including:

  • Cartridge filter tubes
  • Sealing gaskets
  • Wedge blocks
  • Bonding agent
  • Lifting tools
  • Filter installation devices

Gasket Installation

Apply the bonding agent evenly and securely attach the sealing gasket to the cartridge filter tube. Ensure proper sealing to prevent molten metal bypass during operation.

Filter Positioning

Using suitable lifting equipment, carefully place the cartridge filter tube into the designated position inside the filter box.

A hydraulic jack is then used to apply pressure and secure the filter in its correct operating position.

Filter Fixing

After positioning, install the wedge blocks to firmly lock the cartridge filter tube in place and prevent movement during operation.

Drying and Baking

Following installation, verify that all components are correctly positioned and sealed.

The complete system should then undergo a 72-hour baking process according to the specified heating curve before being placed into service.

How to Choose a Cartridge Filter Tube

Required Filtration Accuracy

Different production processes require different levels of melt cleanliness. Higher filtration grades provide finer impurity removal and are suitable for demanding aluminum applications.

Casting Capacity

The number of filter tubes and filter box size should be selected according to the molten aluminum throughput of the casting line.

Alloy Type

High-purity alloys generally require finer filtration grades, while standard aluminum products may use coarser filtration levels with higher flow capacity.

Production Continuity

For continuous casting operations, selecting the proper filter configuration helps maintain stable filtration performance and reduce maintenance interruptions.

Cleanliness Requirements

The target inclusion level and final product quality requirements should be considered when selecting filtration grade and filter quantity.

Cartridge Filter Box

Provides the housing and support structure for cartridge filter tube installation.

Integrated Launder Equipment

Transfers molten aluminum from the furnace to the filtration system while minimizing heat loss.

Rotary Degassing Unit

Removes dissolved hydrogen and floating inclusions before deep filtration.

Automatic Flow Control System

Maintains stable molten metal flow and liquid level during filtration and casting.

Casting Machine

Receives purified molten aluminum for billet, slab, rod, or other casting processes.
