Deep Bed Equipment

Deep Bed Equipment is an advanced molten aluminum filtration system designed for deep purification of aluminum melt through a multi-layer packed filter media bed.

Unlike surface filtration methods, it utilizes the full depth of the filtration media to remove fine non-metallic inclusions such as oxides and impurities. As molten aluminum flows through high-purity alumina-based media, contaminants are captured through interception, impaction, sedimentation, and adsorption mechanisms, ensuring highly efficient purification.

The system provides stable continuous operation and significantly improves melt cleanliness, reducing casting defects and enhancing final product quality. It is widely used in slab, strip, and high-end aluminum alloy production lines, especially where strict requirements for surface quality and metallurgical purity are needed.

Deep Bed Filtration Principle

The molten aluminum enters through the inlet of the deep bed equipment, and after being filtered by the filter bed (filter medium), impurities in the molten aluminum are removed, and the pure molten aluminum flows out from the outlet of the deep bed.

1. The enclosure is lined with high-silica series, corundum mullite series, silicon carbide series, etc., with materials selected according to the working conditions. All materials are produced through high-temperature firing.

2. The materials feature good non-lubricity, erosion resistance, thermal shock resistance, corrosion resistance, and low thermal conductivity.

3. Designed for batch and continuous production lines, it replaces plate-type filter equipment, increasing filtration capacity and ensuring stable product quality.

Deep Bed Equipment Control System

Programmable Logic Controller

It is equipped with a power supply and PLC control system. The PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) with a touchscreen allows modification of all filter parameters and provides fault alarm functions. It can perform preheating, insulation, and heating functions for the chamber. Heater power and fault information are displayed clearly on the control panel. The heating system uses a power regulator for control, with automatic and manual control modes; in automatic mode, it uses PID closed-loop control. The intelligent temperature controller on the control panel displays the temperature of the heater and the molten pool, and allows setting the setpoints for each temperature control point. The heating system has undervoltage and overcurrent protection; and alarms for leakage faults, fuse failures, and power regulator failures.

Compressed air system

Function: To ensure that the compressed air entering the upper part of the deep bed oven has appropriate pressure and flow rate, so as to ensure that the heat in the upper part of the deep bed oven is carried to the lower part of the oven through the compressed air, making the deep bed oven baking and preheating more uniform and shortening the heating time.

Better product quality stability: Plate-type filtration quality is highly dependent on the skill of the operator during CFF replacement. 5. Higher degree of automation: Deep bed filtration systems offer greater automation than plate-type filtration. 7.
