Integrated Launder Equipment

Integrated Launder Equipment

High-performance Launder Lining

The launder lining is manufactured from premium fused silica material through an integral casting process. After curing, the inner surface forms a dense and smooth protective layer that promotes stable molten aluminum flow. The lining offers excellent resistance to aluminum adhesion, chemical erosion, and thermal shock, helping reduce maintenance frequency. Its smooth surface also makes cleaning easier, while the service life can exceed 12 months under normal operating conditions.

Modular Flip-top Cover Design

The launder cover adopts a pneumatic flip-top structure, allowing each section to be opened independently for inspection and maintenance. The supporting frame is fabricated from precision CNC-cut steel plates and reinforced through welding to ensure reliable operation and structural stability. Adjustable support legs provide flexibility during installation, enabling convenient height adjustment and positioning according to site requirements.

Pneumatic Control System

The cover operation is controlled through a pneumatic system equipped with solenoid valves. Operators can choose to open all cover sections simultaneously or control each section individually, improving accessibility while simplifying routine maintenance and production management.

Product View

Integrated Launder Equipment is designed for the safe transfer and temperature preservation of molten aluminum between the furnace, treatment equipment, and casting machine. By combining a high-performance launder lining, insulated cover system, and optional heating technology, it helps minimize temperature loss and maintain stable metal quality throughout the casting process.

The launder body is manufactured with precision-molded refractory materials to ensure dimensional accuracy, smooth metal flow, and long service life. Depending on production requirements, different heating methods can be integrated to compensate for heat loss during transportation and casting.

Key Benefits

  • Minimize molten aluminum temperature loss during transfer
  • Improve metal flow stability and casting consistency
  • Resistant to corrosion from aluminum and alloy melts
  • Smooth inner surface reduces metal adhesion and buildup
  • Flexible heating options for different casting processes
  • Custom dimensions and configurations available

Equipment Types Radiation Heating Launder

The radiation heating system utilizes silicon carbide heating elements or radiant tubes positioned above the launder cover. Heat is transferred evenly to the launder chamber through thermal radiation, helping maintain molten aluminum temperature during transportation.

This solution is particularly suitable for long transfer distances and continuous casting operations where stable thermal conditions are required.

Electric Hot Air Heating Launder

The electric hot air system generates heated airflow and delivers it into the launder through specially designed air inlets. The system rapidly preheats the launder before production and provides supplementary heating during operation.

It is an ideal choice for facilities requiring quick startup, efficient temperature recovery, and flexible production scheduling.

Flame Heating Launder

The flame-heated design incorporates gas burners mounted on the launder cover. Combined with an intelligent control cabinet, the system automatically regulates flame intensity and temperature according to process requirements.

This heating method provides efficient thermal compensation and is widely used in high-capacity aluminum casting plants where precise temperature control is critical.

For Billet Casting

Integrated Launder Equipment helps maintain stable melt temperature from the holding furnace to the casting table. Consistent metal quality contributes to improved billet surface finish and extrusion performance.

For Rod Casting

In aluminum rod production, controlling temperature fluctuations is essential for conductivity and wire drawing quality. Heated launders reduce heat loss and support stable casting conditions.

For Slab Casting

Large-volume slab casting operations often require long transfer distances. Integrated Launder Equipment minimizes temperature drop and promotes uniform metal flow throughout the casting process.

For Recycled Aluminum Processing

Recycled aluminum production may involve frequent temperature adjustments and varying melt conditions. Heated launders assist in maintaining process stability and improving casting efficiency.

Which heating method is most suitable?

The selection depends on plant infrastructure and production requirements.

  • Radiation Heating: Stable and energy-efficient for continuous production.
  • Electric Hot Air Heating: Fast preheating and flexible operation.
  • Flame Heating: Strong heating capacity for large-scale casting lines.

How much temperature loss can be reduced?

With a properly insulated cover and optimized lining design, molten aluminum temperature loss can typically be controlled within a very low range during transfer.

Is a heated launder necessary?

For long transfer distances, high-quality alloys, or continuous casting operations, a heated launder can significantly improve temperature stability and reduce casting defects.

Can the launder be customized?

Yes. Launder length, width, cover structure, support frame, and heating system can all be customized according to plant layout and casting requirements.

What alloys can be handled?

The equipment is suitable for aluminum, aluminum alloys, zinc alloys, magnesium alloys, and other non-ferrous molten metals.

Integrated Launder Equipment is commonly installed together with:

Rotary Degassing Unit
